On to the Bands

Pocket Rockers - www.pocketrockers.com

Pocket Rockers are pop rocks for your ears. Two girls on the mike. Surf and slide guitar. A hot Asian girl playing a bass as big as her. And Aaron( of HU ) swears they have the drummer from Pantera. And the Dalai Lama was outside their last show. How can you beat that!

Gregory Hillman’s Band - www.gregoryhillman.com

A true American originating art form is performed live by Gregory Hillman’s Band through out Southern California. Forming early in 2003, Gregory Hillman’s Band has played regularly at various public and private venues in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles Counties.

Frequent and positive feedback from the community, listeners, venue owners, other musicians, and media resources have helped the band a long it’s way from the very beginning. Even though we have help, live performance is central to the band’s success. By playing the role of the only Ventura County based Jazz Band that performs regularly at various venues all over southern California, we have achieved dreams that were not visible in the band’s first days.

The band has always been made up of top musicians residing in or near Ventura County. Now, in 2004 the band is made up of top performing musicians, all with a university level Jazz education, and years of professional experience. Our musicians now include Nathan Morgan (Sax), Brian Wright (Drums), Kevin Ferral (Bass), Nick Rosen (Bass), and Gregory Hillman (Piano). Typically we play instrumental music and with plenty of energy and groove.

Gregory Hillman has resided in Southern California since early 2000. He began studying piano at the age of five, played in the Highschool Jazz band and Choir at North Kitsap Highschool, studied at the University of Washington, and at Olympic College in the North West on a full ride piano scholarship. He has played with “Third World County”, the Dave Carson quintet, Downbeat, Roy Hargrove, and now with his own band.
